SK Hynix has officially announced a major new facility investment for the construction of the second Fab at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster. This strategic investment is aimed at securing long-term production infrastructure to meet the growing global demand for memory semiconductors.
The total investment amount is 35.22 trillion KRW (~$25.04 billion USD based on 1407 KRW/USD), which represents 29.19% of the company’s equity based on the consolidated financial statements of the most recent fiscal year. The investment encompasses the construction of Phases 1 through 6 of the second Fab at the Yongin site.
The investment period is scheduled to run from August 7, 2026, to October 31, 2031. The company noted that the final investment amount and the project timeline are subject to change depending on the progress of the investment and shifts in the business environment.
