Samsung Electronics has officially disclosed an insurance agreement with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd., an affiliated company within the Samsung Group, in accordance with Article 26 of the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. The agreement, approved by the Board of Directors on July 30, 2026, involves a comprehensive package insurance policy to mitigate risks associated with fire, explosion, and natural disasters.
The insurance coverage extends to buildings and machinery across domestic business sites for both the DX (Device eXperience) Division (including Suwon, Gumi, Gwangju, and Seocho) and the DS (Device Solutions) Division (including Giheung, Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, Cheonan, and Onyang). The total premium for the 24-month contract period is 247.87 billion KRW (~$173.9M USD based on 1430 KRW/USD).
Payments will be made in annual installments. The first-year premium is set at 104.47 billion KRW (~$73.1M USD based on 1430 KRW/USD), while the second-year estimated premium is 143.40 billion KRW (~$100.3M USD based on 1430 KRW/USD), subject to adjustment based on changes in the value of the insured assets.
